He was a direct descendant of Iain Dubh MacCrimmon, his 14th gr Grandfather! He was also a Piper at Dunvegan, 14th hereditary Piper to the MacLeods of Skye. He was also 42nd Sutherland and Argyles and served in WWII. He was POW twice, shot twice and escaped with the help of the French Resistance. He passed away in 1979. He is buried as Peter MacCrimmon, in Renfrew. I am currently on the search for his Army number so I can track down his service records.
I have tons of MacCrimmon info if you would like to email me. flohuard@hotmail.com
Have a great day :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16761529912051185705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2963872681500901783.post-12087979913716419712013-09-07T18:09:20.787+01:002013-09-07T18:09:20.787+01:00Thanks, I might just give them a try sometime :)

But there are plans to make access available online (it's at the 'testing' stage - keep an eye on http://www.scottishdocuments.com for details).

This means that at the moment the only way to get access from overseas is to ask someone here to have a look for you. There are minutes from Longside parish (Church of Scotland) available for 1835 under reference number CH2/699/7 - there might be a record relating to Janet here, or in her mother's or father's home parishes.

It might be worth e-mailing the archives (enquiries@nas.gov.uk) to see if someone there might be able to have a quick look (they cannot always help, sadly, as the staff are kept pretty busy there!) or alternatively, ask a professional researcher (see www.asgra.co.uk for lists of researchers) to go into the search room and look for you.

The only other option really is to wait for the Kirk Sessions to appear online - but I haven't heard a precise date for this yet...

Hope this helps :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17900244234975855850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2963872681500901783.post-22759114597100642712012-10-11T18:01:49.829+01:002012-10-11T18:01:49.829+01:00I live in the US and am researching my Scottish An...I live in the US and am researching my Scottish Ancestry...
